5/5/08 Cup final @Valley Parade 12:30

Bradford Park Avenue under 14's won their Craven, Aire & Wharefdale Cup Final this afternoon at Valley Parade, where they beat Wilsden Juniors 1-0 (HT 0-0).  On a warm afternoon they did very well to keep going all afternoon and won well, even having the Wilsden goalkeeper sve a second half penalty. The League Chairman, Steve Roberts, would like to thank everyone for the successes of the weekend, particularly those members of the Management Committee without whom the whole thing could not have been staged. Thanks to the referees and assistants who staffed every game. Thanks to the ten managers of the representative teams for all the work they put in to getting the squads together, Regrettably some clubs did not support us as well as they should and some results were a bit one sided. However, all the boys enjoyed the experience and that's the main thing.

Memorial Trophy

Over the Easter Weekend this competition was played at the Marley Sports Centre. Bradford Park Avenue’s Under 12’s played on the Saturday and our boys, who were mostly aged 11 and under played their hearts out against older and bigger boys. This was also the first time that our boys had played 11 a side football, so well done to you all.

Sunday saw our Under 14’s reach the Final where they were up against a strong Bradford City side and as the stronger side came out worthy winners. It was still a great performance to reach the Final though and well done to all who took part.

Trophies and awards were presented by Bradford City players, Kyle Nix and Joe Colbeck.

Bradford Park Avenue Under 13’s defeated bottom of the league Netherton 15-0 in their Huddersfield Junior League clash this afternoon. But to be fair to Netherton even though they were hammered they still created chances and could have had ten if they took they chances.

Avenue started by scoring after 10 seconds when “Jake” ran on to a through ball and slotted to the Keepers left. And after ten minutes of creating chances to no avail “Jason” slotted one in after a goalmouth scramble. Avenues third was an own goal corner came in defender attempted to clear it and headed in to roof of the goal. The forth was a superb solo effort “Samire” ran from 25 yards rounded the keeper and poked home. The fifth was a poor kick out and “Aaron” Charged it down deflected off him and in to the goal (Very Gedmanesc), Avenues sixth was a clearance off a corner and “Aaron” shot the rebound raspingly from 20 yards in to the top corner of the goal the keeper had no chance.

The first ten of the second half was a spell of missed chances by both sides till “Nathan” ran down left and a cross come shot caught the wind hit the near post and snook in. “Aaron” completed his hatrick by running on to a through ball by “Callum” and slotted the ball under the keeper as he slid. On 61 minutes Avenue scored a 9th with another good solo effort this time by “Mully” “Jordan” crossed ball and “Mully” took the ball down turned and shot to make it 9. The 10th was a poor spilt ball from a “Callum” Shot and Jordan drove in the rebound from 5 yards. Number 11 was a 15 yard run in to the box the keeper flopped to the floor and “Luke” put the ball home. Number 12 was another own goal an exact rendition of Traore’s own goal against Burnley 2 years ago in FA Cup. The 13th was a clearance from there defence and “Mully” got ball and chipped over keeper and defender from a tight angle. Number 14 was a Rasping shot from “Nathan” and “Jake” was gaol hanging and helped the ball home.. Number 15 was a cross by “Callum” and “Nathan” side footed it in at back post to complete the rout.

MOTM - Young “Jake” up front only got 2 goals but ran his heart out all day and never gave up or got complacent

MANAGERS COMMENTS

“Superb result by the lads would not have expected any other result against a bottom team, as the weeks go on we seam to grow in confidence and play as a team. But we still have to watch out for complacency at the back.”
their final game is 27 April away at rastrick 13.00 kick off
